Measuring Patches

In Entwine, you can measure logical qubits by applying a logical X or logical Z operator across an entire block. This is a fundamental operation for extracting the encoded information stored in your patches.

⚠️ Important: Remember to enter lattice surgery mode by pressing s before growing or shrinking!

Measurement Rules

To measure a block:

• MeasureLogicalX:

  • Hold x
  • Select all qubits of a block (exactly the full set, no more, no less).

• MeasureLogicalZ:

  • Hold z
  • Select all qubits of a block (exactly the full set).

If you are succesful, the measure patch will be removed from the canvas. Well done!

⚠️ Important: The measurement only works if all qubits of the block are selected. Partial selections will not trigger a valid measurement.
